drawing {a,b} exhibition / by Saskia Gilmour

What is drawing in the contemporary context?

Towards the end of last year, two drawing lecturers from the Queensland College of Art, Dr. William Platz and Kellie O'Dempsey, curated an exhibition which was a culmination of student work from the university. Amongst the students who participated were myself and best friend and fellow student, Rachel Matthews-Frederick.

With some of the photos finally edited, I thought I'd take the time to briefly share some images of my work in the exhibition!

The work, Selfies (2014), hand-drawn self portraits of myself which were then altered digitally, by maneuvering the images through a scanner. The drawings are an unconventional and unusual reflection on my self appearance, and bring forth questions of how digital media today has altered our views of the 'self'.
